Mandy Zhang Art|Jin Han “Amber Nebulae”

The solo exhibition "Amber Nebula" by Jin Han will open on July 30, 2024 at the Mandy Zhang Art gallery space. This exhibition will showcase the works created by the artist Jin Han during his stay in Glenfiddich, Scotland. Through his unique engraving techniques, he will delve into the cultural significance and historical significance of wine taboos.

The Glenfiddich Artists in Residence Programme is a long-term art project created by contemporary artists supported by the Weiji brand, with a global perspective. Since 2002, Dufftown in Scotland has welcomed artists from around the world every summer to gather at Glenfiddich and create together, earning it the title of 'the world's best village project'.

During his residency, the artist Jin Han conducted a deep exploration and experience of Scotland's culture, where the ancient and traditional spirit distillation process and the high, low, rough, and magnificent natural beauty complemented each other. This fusion gave rise to the "Amber Nebula".

When he was in the high ground, Jin Han was deeply attracted by the complex relationship between the local land, people, and craftsmanship. In this exhibition, the artist visually presented his sensory experience in the wine - the rich luster of the wine, the majestic luster of the wine, and the oak barrel's cultural texture, which he integrated into the texture of the woodblock prints in his unique style.

Jin Han uses whisky as a pigment, and its unique technique enriches the texture of the material surface, echoing whisky journey in the oak barrel. Riding with us on the 'Amber Nebula', we delve into the profound reflections on time, craftsmanship, and culture brought about by the brewing of whisky.
